I enjoyed all the stuff with the Berserker armour but Isidora was there who of course, ruins everything. I just feel like there are pieces missing even though I haven’t touched the original media (sorry). I want to explore Guts’ character but it’s like you aren’t given any opportunity to because the makers of this seems so convinced that you’ll like these other characters just as much. It would be fine but it’s fucking Berserk. At times, it’s scripted like a kids show on a public broadcast service where one of the characters will turn the camera and be like “fire bad”. The dub is still infuriating at points and the actual script is less than sub-par because of how much they don’t trust the viewer to understand basic stuff that’s being conveyed.
There’s not as much of the annoying clang of Guts’ phat pipe whenever he’s fighting a monster but it’s only because there’s other people in his troop now with their own weapons so it isn’t solely sword combat anyway. It still has annoying sound design, disappointing visuals, an irritating English dub and bad animation. This has been very difficult for me to form an opinion on because they do avoid a lot of the annoying things about the last season a little bit but it doesn’t ever come across like they’ve learnt from their mistakes.
